A little history…I had a problem, and I needed to fix it in Post.
The aesthetic of the film is generally slick editing and no CG. I had no time during my shoot day to plan the shot I needed but I had a very clear idea of what the intention of the shot was.

This 3D scan was created in character creator and mapped to look as close to the original as I could get.
Rear projection effect achieved by filming a shot of the original shot...then compositing a still frame from the original on top of the projection.
Goal was to create a new split diopter with CG and physical shots. It takes advantage of the uncanny valley that these digital avatars have.
